Renovations on the Hotel Talisi have begun, with the brick wall that
was partially destroyed during the fire being rebuilt first. According
to Wylie Troupe, one of the owners, the roof will be next. Blueprints
have been submitted for the interior renovations, and although it
will be sometime next year before the restoration is expected to be
complete, we in Tallassee are anxiously awaiting its rebirth!
Ann Street Café opened in July, with Patty Elliott and Gwen Holly,
the other owners of the Hotel Talisi, operating it. The café offers
sandwiches, soups, and salads, with a weekday lunch special. Specialties
include homemade chicken salad, hot roast beef sandwiches, lasagna,
and chicken pot pie. Patty makes delicious homemade desserts and is
available to make special dishes for parties, family reunions, tailgating,
and wedding receptions. She also makes beautiful wedding special occasion
cakes!
The downtown merchants sponsored a 4th of July Patriotic pedestrian
parade this past summer and have several events planned for later
this year and for 2011. Follow us on facebook to keep up with us!

Downtown Tallassee is growing! The Computer Doctor and Heels and More
recently opened, and we are all anxiously awaiting the opening of
Ann Street Café. Renovation plans for the Hotel Talisi are also underway.
Many people asked what happened to the ghosts at the Hotel after it
burned. Sightings have been made all over downtown, including inside
the Tallassee Florist and Tiger Paw. Just two days after the fire
everyone could smell chicken and dressing in Suzannah's Photography
studio, and two days later it was the scent of lavender. We are sure
the ghosts will be happy when the Hotel is rebuilt and they can go
back to their stompin grounds, so to speak!
